The David Lawson Studio website has been designed with web accessibility as a high priority. Care has been taken to ensure that the pages on the web site meet the online standard for accessibility laid out by the WCAG 1.0 (http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG10/). Care needs to be taken when updating the website in order to maintain this level of accessibiltiy. Some key features which have been incorporated into the website are as follows: -
- Text only alternatives have been avoided through the use of proper markup.
- Webpages are design to meet the standard HTML 4.01.
- A seperate Cascading Style Sheets has been used for presentation. This will allow for uses to disable or specify a prefered stylesheet of their own.
- The website has been tested in the following browsers to ensure overal functionality is not lost: -
- Microsoft Internet Explorer (Mac & PC).
- FireFox.
- Opera.
- Mozilla.
- Safari.
- The website has been checked against the guidelines for the WCAG 1.0's minium requirement for web accessibility. Automated validation tools were used to check multiple pages while a manual assessment was carried out for the overall website.
- Where possible the level of accessibility was increased beyond that of the WCAG Single A standard.
- Text and graphical alternatives have been provided inline with images and other web objects.
